What are?
They are some synthetic materials obtained by the man through chemical reactions, which they are added for him to addictive. The purpose of these additives is to improve the characteristics and properties of the plastic. They result from the union of small organic molecules named monomers.

- Natural: They can be of vegetal or animal origin. As for example, the proteins, the nucleic acid, the natural rubber, the silk, the chitin, the cellulose...
- Of transformation: It is obtained by the transformation of natural polymers. For example, the nitrocellulose and the vulcanized rubber.
- Synthetic: Transformed by the man. They are fabricated from raw materials that are not polymers. In these we find three groups.
I) Thermoplastics: It is a plastic that, the atmosphere temperature, can deform and when it is cold is had a fragile state. Example: Polyethylene.
II) Thermostable: It is only soft when dating them for the first time. After colds they can not recover. They are more difficult to work. They can not retrain. Example: Silicone and polyurethane.
III) Elastomers: It is a polymer that can recover his form even after being deformed.
